Tame the Pain

Cumulative Tips:

This Months tip 10/2011:

Why is it with all the technology we have, our families have to travel more and more for work? Should it not be the other way around? When family members have to travel for work it can add to the body pain we already have.  No piece of technology can take the place of human touch.

This Months tip 9/2011:

The chatter about town is the smell of fall is in the air! It's a fresh new start of the school year.  Is it time for a new doctor as well? A new doctor has access to different resources and a different point of view that may help you.  Sure it's not fun making that first visit and it takes time to transfer records but it may lead to something better.  As a friend for a referral.  If the friend is not overly excited about their doctor ask someone else. When you call the office ask the nurses or front desk questions on the phone about the doctor that are important to you.  One question could be how does the doctor feel about herbs? That one question could reveal a lot.

This Months tip 8/2011:

Get outside and spend time outdoors. Even if it is sitting in the shade.  Some how listening to birds and trees rustling in the breeze is very calming.

Sometimes it just feels good to take a 20-30 minute power nap. Let it make you feel good.

Try some green tea.  It's great mixed with a sparkling water like Perrier or S. Pellegrino

This Weeks tip: 6/7/2011

Take a good brand of Calcium & Magnesium.  Take them before bedtime for as a sleep aid if you want.  They help you sleep and help reduce muscle pain and a lot more!

Remeber, pain can cause depression.  If you are depressed know you are normal.  Know to ask your doctor for help.  Know it is ok to take medicine for depression.  No one will think poorly of you.

You can save water by turning off electricity!  Power plants are the largest consumer of water! So to watch your television for one hour, the power plant uses 10 gallons of water. So turn off your unused items and save water!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter Sunday. Prayer and meditation is a wonderful way to help with pain. Pray about you pain.  Eventually an answer will be given but you have to listen and help find the answer.

Comfortable clothing: With so much pain it is hard to get out and shop.  I do a lot of shopping online.  I wait for free shipping or do a search for coupons for free shipping.  I also sign up for a credit card from the store.  A lot of times just because of using their card you can get free shipping.

I would love to start putting links to comfortable yet dressy clothes.  Macy's brand Style&Co you may have luck with.  Especially the pants, or skirts, or shorts, made from Rayon/Spandex/Polyester.  This brand the waist is usually mid rise giving a modern feel and is generous.  Great for those bad pelvic pain days. You can still look good even when you have high pain levels.  With free shipping, coupon codes I get in the mail and sales I pay anywhere from ten dollars to twenty dollars for dressier type looks.

Enjoy the sun.  Even if it is sitting next to a window where the sun is coming in. My dog lays indoors in the sun and sometimes I lay next to her.  The sun feels so good.

This weeks tip is please laugh!  The more you laugh the more you exercise your abdominal muscles, the more your immune system is boosted, and the more your endorphins are raised!!

Try a tea, any brand.  The fun part of trying a tea is putting in a teaspoon of real honey and squeeze a real lemon.  A real squeeze of lemon tastes so much better than bottled lemon, but bottled lemon is better than nothing.  The EXTRA fun part is a drop or two of your favorite adult beverage.  I use one ounce of single malt scotch for a muscle relaxer in 16oz of hot water.  A good way of still enjoying the cooler weather until spring.

IC patients do without the lemon as that may set your bladder off! Or use Relief.

Make sure to take a multivitamin.  If you have IC and can't take adult vitamins because they give your bladder problems,  try a kids vitamin it is better than nothing.  Make sure the vitamins contain ingredients you can pronounce.  No fake sugars like dextrose or sucralose or aspartame or sugar alcohols.  Make sure they have no "fillers" for the coating that could cause migraines.
