Pelvic Pain SHOTS, OUCH!!
What to expect:
Bring a driver
wear lose clothes
expect excruciating pain while getting the shots , especially the first time
expect pain the following week
Receiving STEROID INJECTIONS IN the PELVIC AREA muscles. The procedure hurts. This is great when you have a muscle that will not release and just spasms. The doctors can usually "feel the ridge". You may receive anywhere from 1 to approximately 7 shots from the top of the pelvic area & about 1 to 7 shots from inside the vagina and uterus. The needle is long so it can go far in to reach the area of muscle that is a problem. Leaving the doctors office parts of your legs or abdomen may fell numb and like a 100 pounds. Expect the first week for the pain to remain the same & maybe decrease. Use aspirin cream, ice, heat, and vaginal valium to ease the pain of the first week. By week two expect to start feeling better.
You may have to have more than one set of appointments anywhere from 4-6 weeks apart. The doctor will determine this. It is painful but worth it to have so much decreased pain and almost no pain. Expect less pain during the second or third set of shots. Still bring a driver and prepare for a week of taking it easy.
